Abstract:
Author describes 33 open radical hemorrhoidectomies carried out with the help of Harmonic Scalpel (ultracision) between 1 December 2002 and 30 September 2004. As described by other authors Harmonic Scalpel hemorrhoidectomy is a relatively bloodless operation with minimal tissue damage associating with less postoperative pain providing quick recovery so it seems suitable for day case surgery. The method is recommended for daily use and for further prospective randomized investigation.
