Background:

  • Primary angiosarcoma of the lung is an exceedingly rare malignancy.

Observation:

  • A case of primary lung angiosarcoma in a 79-year-old woman is presented.
  • Computed tomographic scans showed soft tissue nodules with a halo of ground-glass attenuation, indicative of hemorrhagic pulmonary nodules.
  • Lung biopsy confirmed a multifocal malignant neoplasm with hemorrhage.

Findings:

  • Histologic, cytologic, and immunophenotypic analyses confirmed the diagnosis of epithelioid angiosarcoma.
  • The findings correlate imaging findings with pathological characteristics.

  • This case contributes valuable data to the limited literature on primary pulmonary angiosarcoma.
