Polypoid endobronchial lung cyst with bronchoscopic removal: a case report

Summary
A rare polypoid endobronchial lung cyst was identified in an adult patient. Bronchoscopic removal of the polypoid lesion led to the resolution of the pulmonary cyst.

Background:
- Pulmonary bronchogenic cysts are uncommon in adults, typically presenting as well-defined nodules or masses in the lungs.
- Bronchial polyps are rare, non-neoplastic endobronchial lesions with distinct histopathological classifications.
Observation:
- A 68-year-old woman presented with right upper chest pain and discomfort.
- Imaging revealed a 4x5 cm cystic lesion in the right upper lung without lymphadenopathy or extrabronchial involvement.
- Flexible bronchoscopy identified a 2 cm pedunculated polyp in the anterior segment of the right upper lobe.
Findings:
- A polypoid endobronchial lung cyst was diagnosed.
- Successful bronchoscopic removal of the polypoid lesion was performed.
- Post-removal, the cystic lesion in the right upper lung resolved completely.
Implications:
- This case highlights a rare presentation of a polypoid endobronchial lung cyst.
