Abstract:
Before all pharmacological treatment, which is never without side effects, it is essential to give nonpharmacological therapeutics to dement patients. We can use cognitive stimulation, neuropsychological revalidation. Several means allow to help in cognitive disturbances of daily life and to maintain the autonomy of the patient. The supervision of the nutritional state is very important. The approach of psychological and behaviour disturbances must take into account the triple system formed by the patient, the care-giver and the surrounding. The education and the help of the care-givers are essentiel and also the adaptation of the surrounding at home and in nursing homes.
