Local anesthesia for transurethral manipulations: is a transrectal periprostatic nerve block effective?

Transrectal periprostatic nerve blocks did not significantly reduce pain during rigid cystoscopy. This study found no statistically significant difference in discomfort between patients who received the nerve block and those who did not.
