Summary

Acute ischemic stroke significantly increases circulating endothelial cells (CECs), markers of endothelial damage. These CECs correlate with established markers of endothelial dysfunction, confirming vasculopathy in stroke patients.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate if CECs are elevated in acute ischemic stroke patients.
  • To determine the correlation between CECs and plasma vWf and soluble E-selectin levels.
  • To compare CEC levels across acute stroke, high-risk hypertension, and normotensive control groups.
