Use of buccal mucosa to simulate the coronal sulcus after traumatic penile amputation

Traumatic penile amputation is a rare but catastrophic complication of newborn circumcision, usually involving a portion of, or the entire, glans penis. Emergent reimplantation is necessary to prevent glans loss. However, loss of the coronal sulcus might occur despite successful reimplantation, resulting in a cosmetically unacceptable appearance. We report such a case involving a newborn who suffered partial penile glans amputation and loss of the coronal sulcus after reimplantation, successfully treated with buccal mucosa grafting.
