Background:

Executive functions, including planning and organization, are crucial cognitive domains.
The Virtual Planning test (VIP) is an emerging tool designed to assess these executive functions.
Understanding the reliability of the VIP in healthy populations is essential before its application in clinical settings, such as traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the test-re-test reliability of the Virtual Planning test (VIP).
To assess the VIP's suitability for use with individuals who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Main Methods:

A single-group repeated measures design was employed.
Seventy-five healthy university students participated.
Participants completed the VIP and the Hopkins Verbal Learning Test-Revised (HVLT-R) on two separate occasions, 6-8 weeks apart.

Main Results:

The VIP demonstrated low test-re-test reliability, with coefficients ranging from 0.194 to 0.489.
Performance on the first VIP administration had minimal predictive value for performance on the second administration.

Conclusions:

The VIP's current test-re-test reliability in healthy young adults is insufficient to predict future performance.
Despite reliability concerns, the VIP's potential clinical utility for assessing planning and organization deficits warrants further investigation in TBI populations.
