Background:

  • Recent studies show explosive training or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) improves athletic performance during non-competitive periods.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the impact of combining explosive training and high-resistance interval training on road cyclists' performance during the competitive phase.
  • To assess changes in sprint and endurance metrics, as well as exercise efficiency.

Main Methods:

  • Eighteen road cyclists were randomized into an experimental (n=9) or control (n=9) group for 4-5 weeks.
  • The experimental group incorporated twelve 30-minute sessions of explosive single-leg jumps and high-resistance cycling sprints into their training.
