Minoxidil overdose with ECG changes: case report and review.

Background:

Minoxidil, a vasodilator, is primarily used for hypertension and hair loss.
Intentional overdose of minoxidil can lead to severe cardiovascular complications.

Observation:

A 20-year-old female presented with tachycardia, ECG abnormalities (T wave inversion, ST depression), and labile hypotension after ingesting minoxidil.
Her serum minoxidil concentration was markedly elevated at 3140 ng/mL.

Findings:

The patient's cardiovascular symptoms, including hypotension and tachycardia, were managed with intravenous fluids and supportive care.
Recovery was achieved within 32 hours, with stable blood pressure and resolving tachycardia.

Implications:

This case highlights the potential for severe cardiotoxicity with minoxidil overdose.
