Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of CD44 cross-linking on murine B cell activation.
  • To determine the impact of CD44 engagement on B cell proliferation and immunoglobulin (Ig) production.
  • To elucidate the role of CD44 in B cell responses mediated by CD40 ligand (CD40L).

Main Methods:

  • Murine B cells were stimulated via CD40L in the presence of anti-CD44 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) RK3G9 and IM7.
  • Immobilized and soluble anti-CD44 mAbs were used to assess the impact of CD44 cross-linking.

  • B cell proliferation and Ig production (including IgE) were measured. Activation via LPS and anti-IgM was also examined.
