Summary

The precautionary principle in the UK suggests liability for defective transfusion products based on defectiveness, not negligence. Testing lymphoreticular system (LRS) tissue for variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) in deceased donors is proposed to prevent transmission.
