Orbitofrontal cortex involvement in chronic analgesic-overuse headache evolving from episodic migraine

Summary

Medication overuse causes reversible brain changes in migraineurs, except for persistent orbitofrontal cortex hypofunction. This persistent change may predispose some patients to recurrent analgesic overuse and chronic daily headache.
