Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Andrology
  • Genitourinary Surgery

Background:

  • Congenital complex penile curvature is a rare congenital anomaly.
  • It results from asymmetric development of the corpora cavernosa, leading to penile deviation.
  • While often not functionally impairing, it can cause significant psychological distress and avoidance of sexual activity.

Observation:

  • A 21-year-old male presented with congenital complex penile curvature.
  • The patient experienced psychological distress due to the penile deformity.
  • The curvature did not severely impede sexual intercourse but caused considerable concern.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent surgical correction using the modified Nesbit procedure.
  • The modified Nesbit procedure effectively addressed the penile curvature.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Post-operative assessment confirmed satisfactory correction of the deformity.
  • Implications:

    • The modified Nesbit procedure is a viable surgical option for correcting congenital complex penile curvature.
    • Successful correction can alleviate patient distress and improve sexual function and quality of life.
    • This case highlights the importance of addressing penile deformities for patient well-being.
