Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the hemodynamic effectiveness of a portable sequential compression device (SCD Express) with a rapid inflation device (VenaFlow).
  • To evaluate which device better augments venous blood flow and volume.

  • 12 healthy volunteers were tested in a semirecumbent position.
  • Duplex ultrasound assessed common femoral vein flow velocity and volume.
  • Refill time, total blood expelled per hour, and peak flow velocity were measured.
