Expression of adhesion molecules in early allergic patch test reactions
Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (VCAM-1) and Endothelial Leukocyte Adhesion Molecule 1 (ELAM-1) are upregulated early in allergic contact dermatitis, aiding initial lymphocyte extravasation. Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 1 (ICAM-1) plays a lesser role initially but contributes to inflammation amplification.
