Abstract:
A proprietary radio-frequency alternative, based on a custom application-specific integrated circuit design, can add wireless capability to medical devices without the overheads of other technologies. The advantages of a proprietary transceiver are compared here with Bluetooth and ZigBee using a pulse oximeter as an application example.
