Abstract:
Conservative surgery is the technique of choice in the surgical treatment of women with breast cancer. The conflict between the extent of resection and the final cosmetic result can lead to asymmetries and deformities that are intensified after adjuvant treatment. The introduction of oncoplastic techniques in the conservative management of breast cancer have allowed the indication for breast conservation to be increased and have improved cosmetic results, increasing the technical alternatives available to general surgeons specialized in breast cancer. The present article aims to review the indications and limitations of these conservative oncoplastic techniques in the surgical management of women with breast cancer.
