Abstract:
Effect of various doses of harmidine, a harmala alkaloid were evaluated on voluntary motor activity of rats, and on normal body temperature of mice. It was observed that harmidine antagonised the motor activity decreasing, Ptosis and miosis producing and hypothermic effects of reserpine like M.A.O. Inhibitors, as well as it prevented these effects of reserpine through a direct stimulant effect like amphetamine and imipramine. Further studies are suggested.
