Different effects of adiponectin isoforms in human monocytic cells

Different adiponectin (APM) isoforms have distinct effects on monocytic cells. While both low molecular weight (LMW)-APM and higher molecular weight (HMW)-APM induce apoptosis and activate AMPK, only LMW-APM exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by reducing IL-6 and increasing IL-10 secretion.
