Area of Science:
- Digital image compression
- Wireless communication systems
- Error-correcting codes
Background:
- JPEG2000 image compression is widely used but vulnerable to errors in wireless transmission.
- Existing methods for wireless image transmission often lack sufficient error resilience.
- Optimizing error-correction codes is crucial for reliable data transfer over noisy channels.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop an error-resilient transmission scheme for JPEG2000 images over wireless channels.
- To improve the performance of JPEG2000 image transmission in the presence of channel errors.
- To propose an optimized product-code structure for enhanced data integrity.
Main Methods:
- Reorganizing compressed JPEG2000 image data into product-coded streams.
- Employing Turbo-codes and Reed-Solomon codes within the product-code structure.
- Optimizing the product-code parameters through an iterative process.
- Directly generating the transmission stream from compressed JPEG2000 data.
Main Results:
- The proposed scheme demonstrates superior performance in transmitting JPEG2000 images over wireless channels.
- The error-resilient product-coded streams significantly reduce data loss and corruption.
- The iterative optimization process effectively enhances the coding efficiency.
Conclusions:
- The developed method offers a robust solution for wireless JPEG2000 image transmission.
- This approach significantly outperforms previously proposed algorithms for similar applications.
- The optimized product-code strategy is effective for improving image quality and reliability in wireless environments.
