Background:

  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment often involves self-injection with interferon-beta-1a (IFN-beta-1a).
  • Patient satisfaction and pain are critical factors influencing treatment adherence and quality of life.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate the MS Treatment Concerns Questionnaire (MSTCQ) for assessing treatment satisfaction specific to IFN-beta-1a injections.
  • To evaluate the impact of a new injection device on patient-reported pain and treatment satisfaction.

Main Methods:

  • The MSTCQ was developed and administered to patients switching from the Rebiject to the Rebiject II injection device.
  • Pain assessments were conducted before and 3 months after the device change.

Main Results:

  • The new device significantly improved MSTCQ scores for Injection System Satisfaction and Side Effects (except Flu-Like Symptoms).
  • Statistically significant reductions in pain were observed post-device change (P < 0.0001).
