The immunophenotype of diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL) differs between acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and non-AIDS patients. AIDS-associated DLBCL exhibits an intermediate germinal center/activated B-cell phenotype, unlike non-AIDS DLBCL.

Background:

  • Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL) in immunocompetent patients are classified into germinal center (GC) and activated B-cell (ABC) types based on gene expression.
  • The immunophenotype of DLBCL in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients remains poorly understood.
  • Understanding DLBCL subtypes is crucial for targeted therapies and improved patient outcomes.
