Regional differentiation of palm dermatoglyphs in rural population in Poland
1Department of Archaeology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland. Adam.Gasiorowski@umcs.lublin.pl
Abstract:
The study presents a comparison of the distribution of palm dermatoglyphs in the rural populations of different regions of Poland, namely, the Lublin region, the areas of Suwałki, Ostrołeka, and of the village of Gieblo. A comparison of the occurrence frequency of dermatoglyphs in the above-mentioned areas reveals statistically significant differences between particular patterns. The differences result from ethnic isolation and isolation of the communities caused by geographical barriers.

Papillary Dermis
The dermis might be considered the "core" of the integumentary system, as distinct from the epidermis and hypodermis. It contains blood and lymph vessels, nerves, and other structures, such as hair follicles and sweat glands. The dermis is made of two layers of connective tissue that comprise an interconnected mesh of elastin and collagenous fibers, produced by fibroblasts.
