  • Color developers (CD2, CD3, CD4) and black-and-white developer (TSS) are recognized contact allergens in photographic processing.
  • Decreased occupational allergic contact dermatitis is linked to increased automation in photo developing, reducing chemical exposure.

Observation:

  • A case of occupational allergic contact dermatitis is presented in a non-atopic male working in a photo shop with an automatic developing machine for 5 years.
  • The patient presented with eczematous lesions.

Findings:

  • Patch testing revealed contact sensitization to CD2, CD3, CD4, and TSS.
  • Clinical symptoms resolved after avoiding direct contact with developing products containing CD3 and CD4.

Implications:

  • Despite automation, occupational allergic contact dermatitis remains a risk in photographic processing.
  • Identifying specific sensitizing agents like CD3 and CD4 is crucial for effective management and prevention of occupational contact dermatitis.
