Background:

  • The nitric oxide (NO)/cyclic-GMP (cGMP) pathway is implicated in regulating eating behavior based on animal studies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate plasma nitrite and cyclic-GMP (cGMP) levels in patients with Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN).
  • To explore the correlation between these pathway markers, body mass index (BMI), and psychopathological dimensions in ED patients.

  • Plasma nitrite and cGMP levels were measured in 50 ED patients (25 AN, 25 BN) and 20 healthy controls.
  • Statistical analyses were performed to compare levels between groups and assess correlations with BMI and eating disorder symptoms.
