Congenital inferior vena cava (IVC) anomalies are a significant risk factor for deep vein thrombosis in young adults. This study found IVC anomalies in 16.2% of patients with iliac vein thrombosis.

- Routine screening for IVC anomalies may be warranted in young patients presenting with unexplained DVT.
