Summary

Patients often choose open Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (ORYGBP) over laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) due to surgeon recommendations and non-medical factors, not solely scientific evidence. Many would still opt for ORYGBP even if LRYGBP is considered superior.
