Abstract:
Tests with LLC-MK2 and BHK-21 cells showed that the fluorescent-antibody (FA) procedure can be used to differentiate antibodies resulting from natural infection and antibodies stimulated by rubella vaccine virus. Negative or weak FA reactions in LLC-MK2 cells and strong reactions in BHK-21 cells indicated antibody stimulated by the vaccine virus; strong reactions in both cell systems reflected naturally acquired immunity.
