1Jim Bazluki is Assistant Athletic Trainer at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27834-4353.
Abstract:
Surgical observation can be a useful learning experience for student athletic trainers, due to the nature of the injuries they are learning to deal with. Anesthesiology, examination under anesthesia, sterile draping techniques, instrument identification, surgical procedures, and anatomy are among the topics that could be addressed during the observation period. A basic set of guidelines and possible points of interest for the student athletic trainer are suggested in this article.
