Purpose of the Study:

  • Analyze oculomotor control adaptation stages.
  • Investigate adaptation to forced eccentric reading in normal subjects.

Main Methods:

  • Three normal adults trained to read with a restricted 10x7 degree viewing window.
  • Window stabilized at 15 degrees eccentricity in the lower visual field.
  • Gaze position recorded during 1 hour/day training for ~6 weeks.

  • Initial sessions showed inappropriate reflexive vertical saccades.
