Summary

Magnetization transfer imaging (MTI) did not detect significant gray or white matter abnormalities in schizophrenia patients. This study found no significant MTR differences between patients and controls, contrary to some recent literature.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the utility of voxel-by-voxel MTI analysis in identifying abnormal magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) in schizophrenia patients.

  • Twenty schizophrenic patients and 23 healthy controls underwent MTI and T1-weighted MRI at 3 Tesla.
