Summary

Chronic ethanol consumption impairs the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in aged rats. This study found reduced adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) and corticosterone levels, indicating decreased HPA function with long-term alcohol intake.
