Summary

Researchers propose observing the anticharmed pentaquark (theta(c)) via B meson decays at B-factories. This particle could be detected through its specific decay into antinucleon and theta(c), followed by theta(c) decay into pK(+)pi(-)pi(-).

Area of Science:

  • Particle Physics
  • Hadron Spectroscopy
  • Quantum Chromodynamics

Background:

  • B mesons are crucial for studying exotic hadrons.
  • Pentaquarks are exotic states of matter predicted by theory.
  • Previous models suggested the existence of anticharmed pentaquarks.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the potential observation of the anticharmed pentaquark (theta(c)).
  • To explore the decay mechanisms of B mesons that could lead to theta(c) production.
  • To provide a theoretical framework for detecting theta(c) in B-factory experiments.

Main Methods:

  • Analyzing B(+) meson decays into lambda(-)(c)p pi(+).
  • Modeling the decay process via intermediate D(0) or D(*0) mesons.
  • Calculating theoretical ratios for decay couplings (g(DNlambda(c)), g(DNtheta(c)), g(D*Ntheta(c))).

Main Results:

  • The B(+) to lambda(-)(c)p pi(+) decay is well-explained by a two-step process involving virtual D mesons.
  • Theoretical estimates suggest theta(c) can be produced via B(+) --> theta(c)npi(+).
  • The anticharmed pentaquark theta(c) is predicted to be observable in B-factory experiments.

Conclusions:

  • The proposed decay chain provides a viable mechanism for theta(c) production.
  • B-factory experiments offer a promising avenue for the discovery of the anticharmed pentaquark.
  • Further experimental searches for theta(c) are warranted based on these theoretical predictions.
