Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between immobility duration and functional outcomes in hip fracture patients.
  • To determine the relationship between immobility and mortality in this patient population.

  • Prospective cohort study of 532 patients aged 50+ undergoing hip fracture surgery.
  • Data collected via hospital visits, medical records, and interviews.
  • Measured "days of immobility" until out-of-bed mobility and assessed function (Functional Independence Measure) and survival at 2 and 6 months.
