Summary

This study highlights that laryngeal amyloidosis, a rare condition, can be effectively treated with CO2 laser microsurgery, showing good clinical improvement and low recurrence rates for patients with head and neck amyloidosis.

Observation:

  • A retrospective review of 6 patients with upper aerodigestive tract amyloidosis was conducted.
  • Presenting symptoms primarily included hoarseness and airway compromise.
  • Laryngeal CO2 laser microsurgery was the chosen intervention.

Findings:

  • CO2 laser microsurgery demonstrated success in treating isolated laryngeal amyloidosis.
  • Patients experienced significant clinical improvement post-surgery.
