Laryngeal inflammation is common in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients. This inflammation correlates with impaired laryngeal sensation and increased apnea severity.

- Correlation analyses were performed between RFS, EST parameters, and AHI.

- 90% of OSA patients (26/29) showed laryngeal inflammation suggestive of laryngopharyngeal reflux.
- Significant correlations were found between inflammation and OSA severity (RFS vs AHI).
- Laryngeal inflammation and sensory impairment were linked, as was the degree of sensory impairment and OSA severity.
Conclusions:
- Laryngeal inflammation is highly prevalent in OSA patients.
- Inflammation is associated with impaired laryngeal sensory function and attenuated laryngeal adductor reflex (LAR).
- OSA severity is correlated with both laryngeal inflammation and sensory dysfunction.
