Progesterone regulates HLA-G gene expression through a novel progesterone response element

Progesterone up-regulates HLA-G gene expression via progesterone receptor (PR) activation and binding to a novel progesterone response element (PRE) in the HLA-G promoter. This mechanism may contribute to immune modulation during pregnancy.
