Summary

The dexamethasone/corticotrophin-releasing-hormone (dex/CRH) test shows better diagnostic utility for mood disorders than the standard dexamethasone suppression test (DST). This suggests the dex/CRH test detects subtle hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis disturbances missed by the DST.
