Summary

Accurate diabetes mellitus classification is crucial for effective treatment and prognosis. This study presents a diagnostic flowchart to aid clinicians in distinguishing between diabetes types, including type 1, maternally inherited diabetes and deafness (MIDD), and maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY).
