Diverticulitis in the young patient--is it different ?

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

• To prospectively investigate the incidence and natural history of acute diverticulitis in young patients.
• To compare the clinical characteristics, complications, and treatment outcomes of acute diverticulitis in young versus older patient cohorts.

• Prospective study of 207 hospitalized patients diagnosed with acute diverticulitis between January 2000 and February 2005.
