Objective:
To investigate the surgical treatment for recurrent colon cancer after radical resection.
Methods:
Clinical data of 87 cases with recurrence colon cancer after radical resection from Jan. 1999 to Dec. 2005 were analyzed retrospectively.
Results:
The resection rate of recurrent colon cancer was 74.7% . 55.2% (48/87) of the cases received radical resection,and the median survival was 49 months,while 19.5% (17/87) received palliative resection with a median survival of 24 months, 25.3% (22/87) only exploration or by- pass operation with a median survival of 10 months. There were significant differences in survival among the different surgical treatments (P=0.003).
Conclusion:
The resection rate of recurrent colon cancer is high,and reoperation can prolong the survival of such patients.
