Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Radiology
  • Vascular Imaging

Background:

  • Re-rupture of cerebral aneurysms during conventional angiography is a known complication.
  • Computed tomography (CT) angiography is widely used for cerebrovascular imaging.

Observation:

  • A rare case of cerebral aneurysm re-rupture occurred during a CT angiographic examination.
  • Contrast leakage into the extravascular space indicated rebleeding.

Findings:

  • No specific hemodynamic or contrast-related factors were identified as predisposing to re-rupture during CT angiography.
  • The rapid nature of CT angiography may contribute to the rarity of this complication.

Implications:

  • Highlights a rare but critical complication of CT angiography for cerebral aneurysms.
