Summary

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene variations are linked to brain structure differences in schizophrenia patients and healthy individuals. Specific BDNF polymorphisms correlate with frontal gray matter and cerebellar volumes, suggesting a role in brain morphology.
