Summary

Bioabsorbable poly-l-lactide (PLLA) and metallic screws showed similar long-term biocompatibility in rabbit bone. Both induced a bone walling-off response, with PLLA exhibiting slow degradation and fibrous tissue formation without adverse inflammatory reactions.
