Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) is a severe tick-borne illness caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a Gram-negative, coccobacillary bacterium. Six out of nine patients had a history of seafood allergies.
Initial symptoms included pruritic urticaria-like lesions, progressing to erythema, edema, and blistering within hours.
Lesions evolved into violaceous papules, plaques, and eventually a shiny, lichenoid stage over weeks.
Topical corticosteroids and oral antihistamines provided partial symptom relief but did not alter the disease course.
Complete resolution took approximately 15 weeks, often leaving hyperpigmented macules.

Conclusions:

Red Sea coral contact dermatitis presents a distinct, evolving clinical course.
A significant association between seafood allergies and dermatitis severity/occurrence was observed.
The condition requires prolonged management, with potential for long-term pigmentary changes.
