Area of Science:

  • Cardiology
  • Oncology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Cardiac metastases are more common than primary heart tumors.
  • Carcinomas are more frequent causes of cardiac metastasis than sarcomas.

Observation:

  • A rare case of uterine leiomyosarcoma metastasizing to the heart is presented.
  • Metastasis occurred 6 years after the initial tumor resection.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent surgical resection for the cardiac metastasis.
  • The patient survived for 30 months post-surgery without cardiac recurrence.

Implications:

  • Cardiac metastasis from uterine leiomyosarcoma, though exceptional, warrants clinical suspicion.
  • Surgical treatment for cardiac metastasis can be associated with significant long-term survival.
