Abstract:
IKDC (IFN-producing killer dendritic cell) is a new and rare subset of dendritic cells recently identified in mice. IKDCs possess both natural killer and dendritic cell markers. They can lyse tumor target cells without prior activation through several different lysis pathways : perforin, TRAIL or IFNgamma-induced antiangiogenesis. Iinterleukin-2 combined with Gleevec(trade mark) can not only induce activation and proliferation of IKDC in vitro but also leads to their accumulation at sites of tumors in vivo in mice. These observations should pave the way for clinical trials in patients with cancer in a near future.

Phagocytes
Phagocytes police the peripheral tissues by removing cellular debris and responding to the invasion of foreign substances or pathogens. Many phagocytes attack and remove microorganisms even before lymphocytes detect them. The human body has two general...

NK Cells
NK cells are a crucial part of our innate immune system, acting as the first line of defense against viral infections. These cells can recognize and kill infected cells without prior exposure to the virus, effectively slowing down the spread of infection. Additionally, NK cells produce proinflammatory...
