- Histological examination showed a nodule predominantly composed of hyalinized fibrous tissue.
- Scattered spindle to oval cells, positive for AE 1/3, were observed.
- The nodule was diagnosed as sclerosing thymoma.
Implications:
- Sclerosing thymoma is an under-recognized entity with limited data on clinical features and pathogenesis.
- This diagnosis should be considered in cases of anterior mediastinal tumors where biopsies show predominantly fibrous tissue.
- Further research is needed to understand sclerosing thymoma better.
