Cicatrizing conjunctivitis can be an early sign of squamous cell lung carcinoma. This case highlights conjunctivitis as a potential paraneoplastic syndrome linked to lung cancer.

Observation:

  • A 57-year-old patient presented with bilateral cicatrizing conjunctivitis, including chemosis, pseudomembrane, and symblepharon.
  • Initial skin biopsy suggested bullous pemphigoid, but respiratory symptoms emerged two months later.

Findings:

  • A diagnosis of bronchogenic squamous cell carcinoma was established following the development of respiratory symptoms.
  • The conjunctival findings preceded the definitive cancer diagnosis, suggesting an unusual presentation.
